I've recently married a man who has been dreadfully unhealthy. It was a big surprise to me! If I had choreographed my own experience of falling in love, I would have carefully chosen a vibrantly healthy man. As it is, my new husband looks to be quite healthy and strong. He earns our living in the woods as a logger...and he does his logging all by hand. He thins out the underbrush, the unsightly trees, burns the debris, rakes the fine sticks off the forest floor, and neatens up the creeks, all with hand tools and chain saws. He's terrifically strong and good looking. But, come to find out, he's fed his body coffee and sugary foods, with a few boxed goods and chicken sandwiches. So, even though he looks strong and healthy, he's been in poor condition. His diseases and ailments include: borderline diabetes, headaches, painful GOUT, arthritis, frayed tendons in his shoulders, extreme tiredness, 50 broken bones in his lifetime, shooting pains and general pain, blocked kidneys, indigestion going up and indigestion going down, as well as abnormal brainwaves. I never suspected, as I was dancing into the wee hours with this handsome and lively man that he was dancing under the influence of pain medications. Little by little, it all came to light. I admire my new husband because of his strength of heart. His name is Dave, this man whom I admire. He's fought through his pain to keep doing the work he loves; and he shows his strength of heart in other ways as well. He's a man who doesn't give up. He is also able to change his thinking if it has proven to be harmful. In the past month that we've been married, Dave has given up coffee and most sugar. He's amiably sat alongside me at the dining table and eaten whatever I've set before him. He now eats vegetables and he drinks vegetable juice daily. He also joins me in eating a home ground flax seed cereal every morning. He binges on addicting treats less and less frequently, not even mentioning them like he used to. He has replaced his grocery store bread and grocery store peanut butter and honey with a heavy duty spelt bread, home ground almond butter, and raw local honey. I think he's a champ! He thinks my kind of food is surprisingly tasty. We eat a diet that includes wild meat and home grown meat, grains, vegetables and fruit and homemade desserts using stevia, date sugar, and raw honey for sweetening. We love to eat and we enjoy our mealtimes together. We pray before eating and are sincerely thankful for food that brings us to health and strength. I love to hear Dave pray.
Dave's symptoms are disappearing. Yes, I'm glad to be able to tell you that Dave's body is responding quickly. He must have a terrifically strong genetic heritage. We've noticed that his energy level is up and he smiles more; he doesn't have constant pain, although he does still have sudden pains here and there and specific pains after a hard day's work. He doesn't pop anti-acid tablets or pain killers like he used to; nor does he have the same severe malfunctionings in his systems of elimination. Basically, Dave is more comfortable and happier than before. And he can dance very well because his toes that used to be terrifically swollen and painful have reduced in size by half and have become flexible again! Dave is an avid supporter of Young Living supplements and essential oils. He's honestly surprised to realize his symptoms of ill health are disappearing.
Here are the supplements and oils we're using for Dave.
Every morning he takes Detoxyme, a high-powered enzyme complex that cleans his blood of all the toxins we're stirring up. He also takes a capsule of Oregano Oil internally to deal with the fungus and unwanted microbes in his blood. At night Dave takes Alkalime to make his body alkaline instead of acidic. (Most of us should use Alkalime.) Right before sleeping, Dave gets a body massage using the Young Living Essential Oils (Frankincense Oil for overall ease of symptoms and general well-being; PanAway oil blend for severe pain; and Peace and Calming oil blend). I use Ortho Sport Massage Oil as the carrier oil because he's prone to muscular soreness. I feather and spread and massage deeply along his upper arms (frayed tendons), his spine as well as his whole back, the inside of his knees, his toes and feet and ankles, and finally any other area of need. He doesn't complain of headaches anymore, but I used to apply Peppermint to his head at the hairline. And we ALWAYS apply two or three drops of Peppermint to the corner of his pillowcase. We have to.
You see, Dave snores and snorts and roars loudly. He has about 4 different kinds of sleep disorders, self-diagnosed, but very, very real. And Peppermint Oil has worked miraculously through his sense of smell. Somehow his brain is eased and his breathing patterns are eased and I can ease into a good sleep too. It's a funny story, but it's serious too. Sleep is important.
If you know anyone who has severe sleeping disorders and is considering sleep therapy, please refer them to this website and this information. The therapeutic Peppermint Oil produced by Young Living will stop snoring. It has worked for my new husband Dave!

Anti-Wrinkle Protection: Coenzyme Q10.Natalie KatsmanCoenzyme Q10 was discovered in 1957. This vitamin-like substance, present in every cell of the body, is vitally important for cell functioning: it plays a major role in energy production and is a powerful antioxidant. Doctors and researchers around the globe have been investigating CoQ10, and now it is used for a variety of ailments and as a part of preventive care: * CoQ10 is needed for anything that requires energy: heart and liver functioning, sperm production, muscle activity * it boosts immune system * shown to be effective in treatment of gum diseases * lowers blood pressure * it is used for cancer treatment and was noticed to reduce tumors.
Human body has the ability to make its own CoQ10, but after the age of 20 the production level declines, but the demand grows. Foods highest in coenzyme CoQ10 include beef, spinach, sardines, albacore tuna, and peanuts. Unfortunately, high temperatures that we use to cook meals will affect the coenzyme. That is why older people and those who want to use CoQ10 for therapeutic effect will benefit from taking it as a supplement.
How effective is CoQ10 in skin care?
Wrinkles appear when skin loses its elasticity. This is due to decreased collagen production and collagen crosslinking. Everyday life, cell metabolism, exposure to sun and other environmental factors, toxins, cigarette smoke - all result in production of free radicals. Those overactive pesky molecules or atoms have odd electrons on their orbits and try to find a balance. They either give away the odd electron or find a pair for it, thus making another molecule unstable, turning it into another free radical.
While this process is natural and unavoidable as a part of metabolism, too many free radicals cause dangerous chain reactions that destroy cellular compounds and can damage DNA, proteins and lipids (fats). When it comes to skin aging, free radicals interfere with collagen production and cause premature aging.
Coenzyme Q10 has exceptional antioxidant properties. Studies show that it can effectively counteract free radical damage and provide significant protection against UVA-induced depletion of cell membrane. In other words, it will prevent damage to collagen and elastin production process and help you avoid wrinkles.
CoQ10 is so powerful, it is able to reduce cancer tumors and minimize stroke consequences that are due to suddenly increased levels of free radicals. So when applied topically, it can provide extra protection for your skin and produce a dramatic anti-wrinkle effect.

ELLE Magazine's April issue explores how the most health-conscious eaters may be exposing themselves to dangerous levels of mercury. For years fish has been a dietary staple among weight-watchers and the most health-conscious consumers. Many believe that the omega-3 fatty acids in salmon and tuna can prevent heart disease and wrinkles as well as make their brains both brainier and less susceptible to depression.
However, Dr. Jane Hightower, [an Internal medicine specialist] reports in ELLE's April issue, that a dangerous level of mercury is found in some very common types of fish: swordfish, shark, ahi, canned tuna. She discusses the three-year study that led to her concluding that too much of the wrong kind of fish can give you a nasty case of mercury poisoning.
Hightower reports the symptoms of mercury poisoning to include fatigue, headaches, hair loss, and neurological problems, ranging from numbness, muscle weakness, altered vision and hearing, slurred speech, to convulsions and dementia.
Hightower's claim has touched off controversy from nationwide, pitting federal agencies and fishing industry against environmentalists and health enthusiasts. 'Virtually all fish contain traces of methyl mercury' Hightower reveals. 'In lakes and rivers, where pollution is often quite concentrated, even small fish can have large amounts.' 'In oceans, it's the big predatory species at the top of the food chain that ends up with
the most mercury; these fish may feast for years on smaller fish before becoming fillets themselves. Swordfish, which may be among the largest sea creatures regularly consumed by humans, may accumulate several million times the amount of mercury found in the surrounding water, according to the EPA.' Some healthy hints from Dr. Hightower:
* Eat more salmon - the fish highest in omega-3-like salmon and
sardines, contain very low levels of mercury.
* Limit fish if you are pregnant [or trying]. Eat no more than 12-ounces
a week, and avoid swordfish, shark, king mackerel, and tilefish.
* Go for variety - eat different kinds of fish.
* Think small - little fish tend to be lower in mercury. Eating smaller
portions also helps.
* Don't be afraid - occasionally bingeing on sushi or eating
swordfish all week on vacation won't hurt you.

About the author: . Glucosamine Review and Potential BenefitsMarc DavidSomething interesting happened as my triceps workouts continued in their intensity. After doing some triceps elbow extensions and numerous other elbow extension exercises, I began to feel effects of what is known as elbow tendonitis. The symptoms generally included a pain with any movement of my elbows. So much so, that even resting my arms on a chair began to have an associated soreness to the touch. Similar to my bicep tendonitis experience, the pain experienced was not normal. A bodybuilder who is tune with their muscles can tell the difference between an intense workout and an intensely painful workout.
This elbow tendonitis came about from an overuse of any exercise. With the increased weight, I eventually reached a peak of classic overuse of the joints. Not sure of a treatment, I did the first thing I could. Adjust my form. Keeping the elbows locked in on triceps movements is critical. It can alleviate if not remove the pressure on the joints when doing a very heavy exercise movement. This was my first elbow tendonitis treatment experiment.
Continuing week after week with my new form, the pain was less severe, but it was not a full treatment. Some of the elbow tendonitis symptoms became less painful but the general pain was always present. This has an acute effect on your motivation to continue to do exercises. Doing triceps exercises (dips, skull crushers, one arm and two arm overhead extensions, rope pushdowns) has always been something I look forward to with each arm workout. But with anything that is painful, your body doesnt want to do it. In fact, continuing and pushing past the pain no pain no gain mantra, I would have eventually damaged my joints beyond repair.
After talking to a friends wife, she told me about her husband, who started taking Glucosamine for his joints. There are basically two kinds of people who need some type of cartilage therapy. Those who are suffering from osteoarthritis or athletes with overuse injuries. Considering hes not very old and probably isnt losing too much cartilage, I had to believe that it was working on cars daily and using his joints excessively (turning hands, manipulating small parts) that lead to his overuse of his finger joints and the pain associated. Thus began my short research and trial of a Glucosamine product to see what benefits Glucosamine might have and any possible side effects specific to me.
Glucosamine is a combination of sugar and amine. Its found normally in cartilage and plays an important role in cartilage health and resiliency. As you naturally age, you lose some Glucosamine and that leads to the eventual thinning of the cartilage around the joints. Osteoarthritis defined as the deterioration of the cartilage in the joints. Glucosamine and Chondroitin are found naturally in your body. Chondroitin Sulfate helps draw water into the cartilage (that the Glucosamine is repairing) making it more elastic.
Glucosamine is derived from the shells of crabs and shrimp. Most studies show that taking approximately 500mg three times a day for a total of 1500mg is effective in improving joint health. Those who have damaged their joints to the point of little to no cartilage, or who have had cartilage surgically removed, probably wont experience any benefits simply because its impossible to repair cartilage that no longer exists. Most oral Glucosamine is easily absorbed because the molecules are very small, easily diffused and water-soluble.
After viewing the brief research above, I began taking oral doses of Glucosamine and Chondroitin, 1500mg a day, 3 capsules. My first choice was ASTs ProFlex 750 Joint Support formula. I ended up going to Costco and getting Kirklands Glucosamine Sulfate product as well. Just so I could have a supply at home. Different products but basically, Glucosamine and some Chondroitin.
Within the first few days, my elbow tendonitis symptoms started to disappear. Ive been taking this product for about 2 weeks now, and my workouts are back to their regular intensity. Taking a Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplement has all but cured my elbow tendonitis. From the research I could gather, its important to take these products when you still have a lot of cartilage to repair. Its pretty ineffective to take it when the damage is too severe or the cartilage is absent. Glucosamine is a naturally occurring substance in the body with a primary function of stimulating the growth and repair of cartilage tissues. About the author: .
